When my Grandmother died in 2022, she left behind lots of memorable things, including a children's story she had written about her ancient cat. As a Christmas gift to my Grandfather, I illustrated and designed the book for him.
'Fat Cat McGregor gets Lost' is a charming story about a kitten going to his forever home and discovering what life is like in this new world.
I wanted to get the feel of my Grandparents old farm house and used markers that my Grandfather would appreciate, like the old arga and the chairs in the sitting room. For the illustration style, I decided on something simple and evocative of the old books I was read as a child.
